Stephen Hawking says “We may have 1,000 years left on Earth”

Stephen Hawking, a Science celebrity, says the way mankind can escape mass elimination is to discover another planet. And the clock is ticking.

Amid a discourse Tuesday at Britain’s Oxford University Union, hawking elaborated the history of man’s understanding of the universe and repeated that the fate of mankind lies in space, the Daily Express reported.

“We must also continue to go into space for the future of humanity,” he said. “I don’t think we will survive another 1000 years without escaping beyond our fragile planet.”

This isn’t the first time the theoretical physicist has recommended that mankind must leave Earth keeping in mind the end goal to survive.

In January, amid a BBC Reith address, Hawking said mankind is creeping nearer to destruction, and it’s our fault.

He said it’s inescapable that a catastrophe, conceivably of our making, will strike the planet.

While addressing he said, “By that time we should have spread out into space, and to other stars, so a disaster on Earth would not mean the end of the human race.”
